Morgan McKinley are currently working with a well established Top 40 Practice who are seeking a Corporate Tax Manager to join their team in St Albans. The firm is a well established 24-partner practice with offices in London & the Home Counties.
The role is an exciting and varied role joining a high performing team to be responsible for an allocated portfolio of clients and build relationships with them, ensuring they receive a quality tax service which is delivered efficiently and effectively.

The role is an exciting and varied role joining a high performing team to be responsible for an allocated portfolio of clients and build relationships with them, ensuring they receive a quality tax service which is delivered efficiently and effectively.
Key Duties include:
- Building relationships with a portfolio of clients in our corporate and business tax team
- Understanding their issues and advising on their compliance obligations whilst also helping them to manage their risk and relationship with HMRC
- Proactively talking time to consider tax planning opportunities which may be relevant to them, and working with the tax directors and partners to support delivery of this
- Being a part of developing the wider team, through technical education, soft skill development and on the job training. This will include appraising more junior members of the team including objective setting and having the ability to encourage and foster development of the team
- Negotiating and raising fees and being responsible for WIP management on your portfolio of clients.
- Contribution to the general management of the corporate and business tax department. Providing input at regular management meetings.
- Assistance with the training of tax staff either on the job based or by way of participation in regular technical updates.
- Appraisal of junior staff with responsibility for development and performance.
- Assisting on queries arising from our international network; providing support to the Partners on practice development in terms of marketing campaigns and literature, networking, website support, contributing to the firm's blogs and tweets and raising awareness of topical issues.
- Identifying new opportunities within the client portfolio and working with the wider team to deliver additional services where appropriate.
Particular aptitudes / skills required:
- ACA and / or CTA qualified or QBE
- Ability to build excellent client relationships
- An excellent communicator and relationship builder within a team
- Extensive experience of working with a portfolio of clients to deliver on annual corporation tax reporting requirements
- Experience dealing with complex groups and related tax challenges
- Demonstrate broad and strong technical tax knowledge and experience. Mixed tax knowledge would be a benefit but corporate tax experience is priority for the role
- Ability to work within deadlines and deliver on agreed timescales
- Experience of identifying opportunities for business development on tax clients (and ideally across other service lines)
- Ideally proficient in Alphatax but training can be given
