Position Overview
As the Vice President - Regulatory Policy Expert, you will support the CFO, Controller, and Head of Reporting Operations for Continental Europe in delivering key outcomes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve problems, engage in clear communication, and extensively interact with senior stakeholders across Finance and Risk on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
- Review and provide opinions on existing and proposed regulatory policy in the context of the regulatory disclosures within the Finance teams' scope
- Lead the process of developing regulatory interpretations and policy opinions
- Clearly communicate the latest external regulatory developments to customers and stakeholders
- Undertake line-by-line traceability mapping of regulatory articles to interpretations
- Advise implementation owners on regulations to facilitate compliant application and reporting
- Ensure consistent and accurate communications to regulators
- Support engagement with the Prudential Regulation Authority and industry trade bodies on regulatory policy and permissions topics
- Good knowledge of the regulatory landscape, preferably in a regulatory prudential policy function in a bank with a multi-country presence
- Experience in general or wholesale banking, including Commercial Banking, Global Banking & Markets, or Wholesale Credit Risk
- Fully qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA/CIMA) or a similar educational qualification preferred
- Relevant working experience in a bank, rating agency, consultancy, or advisory firm is desirable
- Ability to formulate and articulate defensible interpretations of ambiguous prudential regulatory rule text
- Strong technical knowledge of prudential regulations is essential
- Technical knowledge of prudential regulations as administered by key bodies and jurisdictions, e.g., The Basel Committee (BCBS"), UK/PRA, EU, ECB, SRB, and EBA (one or more jurisdictions is desirable)
- Technical knowledge in one or more areas of prudential regulatory capital, e.g., RWAs, leverage ratio, and capital resources under the US, UK/PRA, and/or BCBS rule frameworks
- Proven ability to act as an advisor and challenger to internal stakeholders on all aspects of prudential regulatory policy
- Strong control mindset with the ability to support other control functions responsible for ensuring regulatory requirements are followed and reported accurately
