The Role:

The Product Tax team is responsible for tax matters for fund entities of different types and located in different jurisdictions. These include UK, Luxembourg and Irish tax transparent and corporate fund vehicles.
The team requires an Operational Tax Manager to specialise in operational tax matters, ensuring that risks associated with the constantly changing tax landscape for investments are managed in the multiple jurisdictions which the funds invest and new opportunities for tax reclaims are considered and pursued.
This is a temporary opportunity for a maternity cover.

Key Responsibilities for this role:

  • Responsible for any operational tax matters related with withholding taxes, capital gains taxes, transfer taxes, namely for securing any tax benefits for our fund structures, ensuring that tax documentation is completed accurately and for identifying, assessing and pursuing any reclaim opportunities.
  • Provide tax ad hoc advice and tax risk considerations to the business (front office, product development, operations teams, etc.) on any operational tax issues, namely in respect to the launch of any new funds or changes to existing funds, investment in new assets, etc.
  • Responsible for overseeing external service providers on any activities and tasks related with Reporting Funds Regimes in jurisdictions such as Austria, Germany, Switzerland and United Kingdom for our fund structures.
  • Responsible for managing, supporting and overseeing M&G AEOI compliance and obligations (e.g. entity classifications and registrations, providing ad-hoc advice to the business, completing W8 and Self Certifications, etc.).
  • Oversee tax services provided by custodians, professional services firms and local tax agents to ensure international fund compliance obligations are met and tax risks are being managed.
  • Monitor any global tax developments that may have an impact on M&G and where necessary communicate them to the internal teams and assist with the implementation of these changes.
  • Represent M&G at industry peer group meetings and assist in lobbying activities and responding to broader tax developments and changes.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • You will be a Manager from a professional services firm or asset servicer with practical experience of global withholding tax/capital gains tax/transfer taxes
  • Strong IT literacy and excel skills to analyse reports generated from custodian systems
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive in keeping abreast of global tax developments in investment markets
