The Reserve Bank of Australia's Payments Policy Department is recruiting for a Senior/Lead Analyst to support its supervision of clearing and settlement facilities. Your expertise will contribute to the important regulatory responsibility of improving the safety and resilience of the critical infrastructure that underpins the Australian financial system. We are looking for motivated people with experience in one of the following areas, to join an energetic team of regulatory supervisors:

Applicants will have a relevant tertiary qualification and prior experience in regulatory supervision, risk management, economic/financial analysis or financial markets/financial services. They will be able to provide examples of their skills and how they could apply to regulatory supervision.
Your team
The Payments Policy Department is responsible for the RBA's payments system policy, regulatory and oversight functions. We help the RBA meet its objectives of promoting competition and efficiency, improving the safety and resilience, of the payments system and safeguarding the stability of Australia's financial system.
The Clearing and Settlement Supervision Section within the Payments Policy Department is responsible for the regulatory supervision of entities that provide critical financial market infrastructure underpinning the majority of financial market transactions in Australia. Given the rapid change and increasing complexity in the financial system, it is essential that the supervisory team has the requisite skills to assess how these critical entities are managing their risks. The agility required by today's supervisory team makes this a dynamic and exciting time to come on board.

- Regulatory supervision of entities in the financial system, including banking, financial markets, post-trade, superannuation or other financial services providers;
- Risk management, particularly at a bank, central counterparty, central securities depository or payment system operator;
- Economic/financial analysis with a focus on financial system stability; and/or
- Professionals working in financial markets/financial services.
In your role, you will be responsible for the supervision and risk assessment of licensed clearing and settlement facilities. Your role could include:
- Undertaking financial and non-financial risk analysis, applying knowledge of the RBA's financial stability standards
- Formulating and communicating supervisory recommendations to the RBA's leadership team, the RBA's Payments System Board and supervised entities
- Undertaking assessments of the supervised entities against their regulatory obligations
- Direct supervisory engagement with the supervised entities.
Your background
To be successful you will possess:
- Excellent critical thinking skills to assess information, identify patterns and develop supervisory responses on complex supervisory issues
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary supervisory team and with other supervisory agencies
- Willingness to speak up where you see issues, both to ask questions and communicate regulatory expectations to the supervised entities
- outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisational and time management skills, including an ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
