Role
This role is the part of First line of defense Compliance Control team within Banking Operations. The Associate Consultant will provide day-to-day compliance support of the business unit activities, related to account opening, periodic reviews, due diligence reviews, etc. and will ensure banking operations are aligned with the regulatory and corporate compliance policies and procedures. Under general supervision, will research and identify issues, and perform other duties as assigned. Detect and advise BU management of potential Business Unit Compliance issues and recommends procedural changes.

Role

Key responsibilities of the role:
- Proactive oversight of the Global Banking regulatory and compliance model, and monitoring the adherence to the corporate regulatory framework
- Review and monitor business unit procedures, practices and other activities to assure compliance with applicable policies and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with internal business groups , such as Second line Compliance, Legal, Risk on resolution of issues, as needed
- Lead training and communications with partners to promote a robust risk and regulatory culture and reinforce risk and regulatory principles
- Identification and/or creation of enterprise-level Business Unit Standards for Global Banking as a result of policy change or regulatory requirement
- Provides business unit input and functional knowledge as it relates to compliance with applicable laws, rules and standards.
- Responds to internal and external inquiries and requests for information to clarify impact on the business unit of the various regulatory requirements. May update appropriate procedural changes.
- Identifies and escalates to BU management any regulatory compliance risks associated with the business unit's activities.
- Researches and assists in the development of reports and solutions for issues being addressed by the Business Units as assigned by Corporate Compliance and by BU Management.
- Participates in all applicable training.
- Carries out business-related activities that may be required to support Corporate Compliance guidelines.
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
- 2 to 4years for experience from first or second line of defense.
- Sound knowledge of the Financial/Banking Services and Treasury / Cash business
- Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance processes and requirements in Financial Services organizations and the impact of regulation on operational matters
- Flexibility and adaptability to change, with the appetite to continually enhance / strengthen status quo
- Ability to influence and persuade others (e.g. peers, partners, senior management and external parties) to implement change, strategy and decision making in a diverse and matrix environment
- Ability to connect the dots across functional lines and think creatively
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to identify problems, develop and communicate strategic solutions.
- Track record of delivering to tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to interact and manage expectations with senior level audiences, stakeholders and management
- A strong and proven ability to analyze, break down and explain complex issues in non-technical language.
- Knowledge of financial services businesses and the applicable laws and regulations is preferred to review and monitor business function compliance procedures and policies.
- Analytical and communication skills required to analyze and summarize information. Organizational skills required to coordinate business unit compliance-related activities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to demonstrate the ability to adapt to various audiences/constituencies are required.
- In-depth knowledge of local and/or global regulatory/compliance reporting is preferred.
- Ability to learn and apply moderate to complex regulatory requirements is required.
- Analytical and problem solving skills are required.
- Technical skills / systems knowledge (e.g. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) is required. Knowledge or understands regulatory changes in the local region environment
