What can you expect?
  • The Treasury/Funding Tax Lead reports to the Head of Global Planning, and provides leadership in strategizing, structuring and executing various Treasury-related activities, including cash repatriation, intercompany financing, guidance on hedging and finance transactions worldwide, and cash pooling.
  • You will help develop strategies to reduce Marsh McLennan's global effective tax rate, maximize cash flow opportunities, provide documentation for company tax positions, and assist the Tax Operations team in reviewing transactions for the tax return.
  • The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who is comfortable directly working with Treasury colleagues and other stakeholders within the Company to add value to the Company's funding and financing model, and devise and drive the development of comprehensive tax-efficient solutions.

What is in it for you?
  • Work for a company committed to being a responsible corporate citizen with great employee benefits and paid time off.
  • Organization dedicated to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and diverse culture at work, in which every voice is heard.
  • Excellent Benefits - Competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits and programs including health and welfare, tuition assistance, employee assistance program, domestic partnership benefits, career mobility, generous vacation plan and much more.
  • A company with a strong brand and strong results to match.

We will count on you to:
  • Design, develop, and coordinate global tax strategy for Treasury operations and financing transactions in coordination with and consistent with overall Treasury objectives.
  • Plan, design and lead international tax projects to appropriately manage Marsh McLennan's effective tax rate and tax-compliance requirements. This will include working with relevant functions to ensure supportable technical tax positions for business transactions.
  • Provide tax leadership and advice with respect to major securitization structures, hedging structures, and cash pooling.
  • Oversee tax aspects of the Company's repatriation strategy, including dividends, capital reductions, and basis repatriations, including review of withholding tax and anti-hybrid positions.
  • Own all tax aspects of Marsh McLennan's sophisticated external financing transactions.
  • Assist with transfer-pricing workstreams to ensure that Treasury-related activity is appropriately priced at arm's length and properly documented.
  • Support and contribute to Marsh McLennan's view and review of tax risk within the appropriate local, regional, and global tax frameworks.
  • Ensure that Treasury-related activity and transactions are accurately reflected for financial reporting purposes.
  • Effectively manage the use and performance of external tax advisors to ensure appropriate and efficient external tax advice while managing advisor fees.
  • Undertake international (non-U.S.) corporate tax research as necessary and assist with the review of financial modelling.
  • Counsel senior Tax Department personnel on legal and technical tax issues as they arise.
  • Stay current on legislative and regulatory changes impacting treasury and funding transactions as they effect Marsh McLennan.

What you need to have:
  • Law or advanced business degree or accounting qualifications preferred
  • Experience with the tax treatment of funding transactions and repatriation of earnings
  • Strong understanding of international tax concepts and tax rules especially in the UK and Europe (experience with Australia and Canada is helpful)
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP and IFRS

What makes you stand out:
  • Understanding of U.S. tax principles is a plus
