Firm Overview
Borealis Strategic Capital Partners is a Chicago-based investment firm specializing in hedge fund seeding. With a senior team of six professionals, we have raised two committed capital vehicles (~$250 million Fund I and ~$300 million Fund II) and are currently deploying capital from Fund II.
Position Summary
Experience Required: 2-6 years
As an Investment Analyst at Borealis Strategic Capital Partners, you will play a crucial role in supporting the investment team in evaluating potential hedge fund seed investments, conducting thorough due diligence, and monitoring seeded managers. This role requires an interest and curiosity about various investment strategies, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Due Diligence: Perform comprehensive due diligence on prospective hedge fund managers, including initial screening and detailed analysis.
- Investment Analysis: Conduct detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis of potential hedge fund investments.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor the performance of existing investments and prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitive dynamics, and market developments to provide insights for investment decisions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the senior investment team to identify and evaluate new investment opportunities.
- Relationships: Cultivate relationships with hedge fund managers, allocators, and other industry participants.
- Investor Communication: Support the preparation of materials for investor updates and meetings.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2-6 years of experience in investment management or related industries.
- Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the ability to conduct detailed, creative analysis.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. CFA designation or progress towards it is a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in financial software and tools such as Excel, Bloomberg, and other emerging AI platforms/tools.
- Intellectual Curiosity: Demonstrated intellectual curiosity with a passion for continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends and new investment strategies.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex investment concepts clearly.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and contribute to the firm's long-term success.
Location: Based in Chicago, with the possibility of some travel as required.
