Silicon Valley Bank and First Citizens Bank offers an exciting summer internship program that provides development opportunities and hands on work experience in Silicon Valley Bank's Commercial Bank while creating a talent pipeline for the SVB Commercial Bank Associate Development Program, an entry-level development and training program that couples critical thinking on business and financial fundamentals on-the-job experience, supporting various teams and markets. Our interns will apply classroom knowledge and practical hands-on activities in a commercial banking environment making a positive impact across the organization and the communities we serve. Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Internship dates: 5/28/205 - 8/01/2025
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience
Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution (during the time of the summer program)
Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program
Expectation of at least 3 days a week in office
Preferred qualifications:
3.0 minimum GPA
3 years of college experience (rising senior)
Strong desire to learn and grow
Possess a positive attitude, naturally curious and enjoys collaborating with others
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Critical thinking skills
Ability to multitask
Ability to adapt and adjust priorities based on business needs
Ability to take direction and absorb information quickly
All majors apply and you've received a passing grade for at least one finance, accounting, and/or economics college course
The base pay for this position is relative to your experience but the range is generally $20.39/hr - $31.19/hr. This position is not eligible for the benefits program. Summer housing stipend is available for hires meeting eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Rotate with your intern cohort through a variety of Innovation Economy and Commercial Bank job responsibilities enhancing your knowledge through formal training as well as practical application through on-the-job experience
- While the experience may vary, there will likely be opportunities for direct client experience or interaction through client qualification, account opening, and client support. Additional experience will be garnered through understanding the end-to-end loan process and understanding how Risk, in particular Credit Risk, applies in a Commercial Bank environment
- Over your 9-week experience you will focus on building skills in professional presence, core knowledge about First Citizens and the Commercial Bank, client engagement, credit underwriting and policy, portfolio management, and risk. You will have opportunities to meet and engage with senior and executive leaders of the bank
- You will work in the midst of the innovation ecosystem in our San Francisco or Boston office
- Be immersed in First Citizens sales approach with opportunities to learn about various lines of business to deliver products and services to our customers.
- Attend professional development sessions, informational sessions, networking and community service events.
- Have a dedicated manager and program manager to help you navigate the bank and the internship program.
- Be assigned a project, designed to improve a specific process or solve a problem that you will present at the close of the internship.
- Prepare a wrap-up presentation to be shared with the division leader and other key stakeholders in the company to outline your accomplishments and experience during the internship
