The Brown & Brown, Inc.'s (B&B) Finance and Accounting paid internship program is a role-based experience designed to provide talented undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to contribute meaningful work to our world-class team. The intern role based out of Daytona Beach, FL, will be exposed to a range of learning opportunities, including working with accounting applications to support billing needs, working within a team to achieve monthly department goals, and building upon a foundation of accounting, finance and business knowledge. The role will have responsibilities associated with processing discrete phases of the direct bill reconciliation process for the Brown & Brown Retail Division. Interns could be responsible for completing individualized projects that could include data gathering, analysis, collaborating with teammates from multiple disciplines and departments, and offering recommendations. Project completion will culminate in the opportunity to present findings and results to a panel of senior leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitie s
- Collect, transact, reconcile and record insurance carrier commissions statements and payments.
- Support the completion of tasks based on department requirements, standard accounting principles, deliverables, and recommendations. Analyze, identify and record unearned commissions.
- Leverage software automation for process efficiencies.
- Promote teamwork, support and knowledge sharing and a positive attitude in the department and office
- Actively participate and engage with all aspects of the internship program.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.
- Timely and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by department leader.
- Assist in other areas of department or other departments as required.

Education, Experience, and Knowledge
Required:
- Students should be working towards an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
- GPA minimum of 3.0
Preferred:
- Foundational knowledge of financial accounting principles.
- Proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Able to create and edit Excel spreadsheets.
