Your new role
As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role in our finance team. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing Annual Financial Statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards, including drafting position papers for Senior Management on issues arising from the Auditor-General's report.
  • Interpreting and applying Australian Accounting Standards to provide technical advice as needed.
  • Managing the planning and control of all asset-related processes, including stocktakes and depreciation forecasts.
  • Preparing draft quarterly forecasts and annual budgeted University-wide Balance Sheet and Cashflow Statement, including commentary, analysis of results, and papers to committee.
  • Managing outcomes as statutory regulations and reporting requirements change, including developing appropriate Policies and Procedures and ensuring compliance across the University.
  • Assisting with mentoring the Assistant Accountant in the team, who is responsible for Fixed Asset processing.
  • Building relationships with Operational Finance to improve the timing and quality of reporting.
  • What you'll need to succeed
    To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Proven experience of preparing financial statements and managing asset-related processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with Senior Management and other stakeholders.
  • Experience of mentoring and developing team members.
  • The ability to adapt to changing statutory regulations and reporting requirements.
