Job Purpose
The role will be responsible for (i) tax advisory and planning, (ii) M&A transaction/ investment tax advisorysupport for Allianz entities in Asia Pacific region (a mix of insurance and asset management businesses), and(iii) tax compliance and reporting. As the regional tax subject matter expert, you will be one of the key contactsfor tax matters in the region, leading tax projects with minimal supervision, and this role will involve significantcross-team, function and business liaison as well as interaction with regional finance and Allianz group tax(including with key stakeholders).

Tax Advisory and Planning
  • Provide proactive support to implement opportunities for enhancing tax management effectiveness andappropriate tax risk mitigation strategies.
  • Work with the global tax team to implement strategic tax initiatives and policies.
  • Support on ad-hoc tax advisory, and special projects like Pillar 2 implementation.

M&A transaction/ investment tax support
  • Support M&A transactions/ fund platforms for investments and provide input in due diligence, structuring,and implementation phases.
  • Structuring, coordination, and execution of real estate investment and divestment transactions, involvingglobal tax function and/or external advisors (review of DD materials, tax memo)
  • Review of financial model, and negotiate tax-related clauses in SPAs, JVAs, subscriptions documents, sideletters, etc.

Tax Compliance and Reporting
  • Responsible for tax accounting and effective tax rate analysis including review of quarterly IFRS tax reportingdelivered by OEs to ensure compliance with IAS 12 and related accounting standards.
  • Ensure a consistent approach to tax compliance, and liaise with external tax agents who are preparing taxcomputations, returns, and submissions. You will play a key part in advising the respective tax team inOperating Entities (OEs)/ Investment Entities on tax compliance matters, managing tax audits, and advisingfinance on internal tax reporting obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with GST/ VAT/ transfer pricing regulations across the Asia Pacific region.

What you bring
  • Experience in tax accounting/reporting and/ or tax compliance and/ or tax advisory covering insurance and/or asset management businesses
  • Good understanding of insurance and/ or asset management products
  • Strong tax technical knowledge and commercial acumen
  • Solution-oriented behaviour for complex tasks/ processes combined with a hands-on mentality
  • Excellent project management with an ability to manage deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-motivated, demonstrating initiative and a pro-active approach.
  • Strong team player with good interpersonal and relationship building skills (dealing in an internationalenvironment).
  • Fluent in English, additional Asian languages desired.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Understanding of financial models.
  • Accounting or related degree and additional tax qualification would be advantageous
  • Minimum 7-8 years of tax experience, preferably in an insurance or asset management company or Big 4accounting firm
  • Future Challenges, must be experienced to manage regional-level responsibilities given that Singapore is anAPAC regional office and coupled with the increased complexity of tax legislation and diverse complianceobligations across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Ensure tax risks are well managed in the region with different levels of sophistication of the tax authoritiesand business environment.
