MAJOR DUTIES
  • Work with Quantitative Research Team at Northern Trust to design, develop and maintain large-scale distributed computing programs, tools and applications
  • Build, test, and deploy proprietary quantitative models and machine learning algorithms
  • Develop, and deploy automated processes to support prototyping and proof-of-concept
  • Produce data visualizations and reporting
  • Understand, ingest and integrate large, complex financial, ESG and alternate data sets for research
  • Operate as a hands-on technologist and deliver within a team as an individual developer and product manager
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
  • Experience in developing, deploying and managing technology applications and databases for large financial services firm
  • Hands-on experience with Python and relevant packages such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, tensorlfow etc. and large datasets - Financial, ESG and alternate
  • Experience in implementing quantitative investment strategies including machine learning algorithms
  • Understanding of the complexities of Quantitative Research and Portfolio management
  • Understanding of statistics, probability and economics and its applications in quantitative finance and portfolio construction
  • Understanding of asset classes, market participants and institutions and various client types
EXPERIENCE
  • 7+ years' experience in developing technological solutions, data science and analytics in financial services preferably at a buy side firm
  • Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with some of the following areas: Distributed Computing, Data Science, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Platform Development
  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills
  • Preferably some experience with Snowflake and Azure environment
