  • 7 years of experience in Project Management including managing Highly complex projects/programs
  • 6 years of experience in Vendor management /negotiation
  • 6 years of experience acting in a consultative manner with business partners to influence change
  • 3+ years of experience in Finance Transformation projects or REG Reporting

Job Description

Financial Workstream Manager

The Finance Workstream Manager is responsible for delivery of critical Controller and other Finance programs, program management methodologies/processes, tools and metrics. Provides program management oversight to initiatives of extreme complexity and strategic agility. Provides leadership, instruction, and direction to various colleagues arcross teams and LOBs as they complete their responsibilities. Regularly communicates with executive leadership.

Specifically, this role will provide cross-program coordination and workstream management across multiple groups:

  • In support of Finance Transformation: Technology, CDAO, Data Engineering, and as appropriate, Reg Reporting and other business teams pertinent to the projects.
  • In support of SOX Program and remediation efforts: Technology, Cybersecurity, TCO, BRCOs and other business teams as needed.
  • Support other deliverables and smaller initiatives within Controller organization, including management of budget for the various groups.

Position Responsibilities:
Program Execution

  • Provide expert leadership and oversight to highly complex, visible Finance programs and bring to successful completion (on time, on budget and delivering expected business benefits).
  • Provide expert management of risk management plans to decrease the probability and impact of events adverse to the program.
  • Provide awareness on the connection points for the delivery and execution of interdependent projects/programs.
  • Manage conflicting projects, programs, proiorities, and teams and recommend appropriate sequencing/mitigation plan(s).
  • Act as liaison between all lines of business, interdependent projects/programs as well as external partners and business partners. Coordinate with Comerica vendor teams for programs that intersect with the Reg Reporting program (e.g., AFS Vision Trust Reg Reporting) to facilitate alignment on shared data needs.
  • Manage complex relationships with executive leadership, establish relationships of trust with management and colleagues, and drive consensus across the organization on difficult topics.
  • Interact with executive leadership on a regular basis providing program status communication(s), financial updates, and program/project sponsor mentoring of their roles/responsibilities.
  • Advise on regulator expectations of Category IV institutions and how prioritizing/de-prioritizing particular tasks may impact Comerica's ability to meet those expectations.
  • Advise on materiality of various data domains, including setting context for prioritization of data domains and related tasks (e.g., data certification) in terms of holistic reporting readiness.

Program Management Standards

  • Develop program/project management standards, templates, and assets.
  • Develop program/project assessment procedures for evaluation and improvement.
  • Uphold organizational standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance.
  • Identify opportunities for continual improvement.
  • Identify program/project management best practices.
  • Ensure program/project standards and processes are followed.
  • Establish knowledge sharing with Finance Transformation team on reg reporting, including basic training on in-scope regulatory reports, such as how to locate and navigate instructions, how reports are structured, implications for data model.

Workstream Leadership

  • Facilitate coordinated efforts across Finance Transformation, CDAO, Technology, and Data Engineering teams as well as SMEs from Reg Reporting business teams to work towards program goals.
  • Manage workstream-level progress trackers, facilitate team discussions about task management and workload planning.
  • Coordinate with Technology, CDAO Data Engineering teams to enable smooth handoff of work from team to team.
  • Help navigate blockers that arise and advise on impact to project plan.
  • Represent Finance in workstream-level discussions on plans for future phases of the program.
  • Support workstream lead preparation for program level ESC meetings.
  • Support progress reporting, including advising on appropriate approaches to accurately reflect progress on a workstream where definitions of completeness and success can be difficult to communicate in traditional project plan format.
