The opportunity

An exciting opportunity to join QBE as a Senior Financial Accountant. In this role you will oversee the management of accounting processes both onshore and offshore to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and continuity of operation.

This opportunity will provide exposure to a number of business areas across QBE, within both Group and regional divisions.

Your new role

In this role you will:
  • Oversee and review the offshore financial closing process for Group Head Office (GHO) entities, including bank reconciliation, transaction recording, and period-end reporting.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of hedging instructions, confirm maturing hedge positions with Treasury FX dealers, and manage operational foreign exchange exposures.
  • Prepare and review quarterly financial reports, including Corporate Divisional Analytical reports and statutory deliverables, and perform internal verification for report disclosures.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders on ad-hoc requests and inquiries, including Tax, Treasury, Investment Accounting, and Audit teams.
  • Liaise with external auditors for interim and year-end audits, provide financial guidance, and support the Financial Accounting Manager in implementing finance department strategies.

About you

In order to succeed in this role, you will need:
  • Relevant prior experience within a financial accounting role, preferably within a Financial Services organisation
  • Excellent technical accounting knowledge of AGAAP/IFRS relevant to head office companies along with good understanding of technical accounting and reporting compliance.
  • Attention to details and strong analytical skills in spreadsheets, data analysis and reconciliation procedures
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage priorities to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accounting qualifications such as CA/CPA or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of governance and control
