On behalf of our client, a global financial institution based in Basel, Swisslinx is seeking a Back Office Generalist to join their Back Office team. In this role, you will work closely with various units within the Banking department. You will be part of an international and diverse team that values collaboration and fosters innovation. Your responsibilities will include supporting Back Office Controls by executing operational tasks and collaborating with other teams to enhance processes and workflows.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience or knowledge of financial instruments and financial messaging, along with exposure to back-office environments in the financial services or insurance industries.
This is a temporary position (100%), with an immediate start date, (latest mid-October 2024), and runs until March 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
• Processing, confirmation and matching of transactions.
• Investigating and resolving processing exceptions for non-standard or special operations (bonds, money market, FX, Gold, and derivative instruments).
• Investigating and resolving confirmation breaks and settlement failures together with the front office, custodians, and customers.
• Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of confirmations, settlements, and payments.
• Ensuring settlement instructions are kept up to date.
• Monitoring cash settlement and performing cash reconciliations, investigating breaks, processing compensation requests.
• Documenting processes and procedures as the need arises.
• Acting as the main point of contact for internal customers with regards to certain activities.
Experience and Skills We're Looking For:
• Knowledge of financial instruments
• Back or Middle Office experience in a financial institution
• Fluency in English is required
• A good understanding of and interest in IT, new technologies, willing to explore technology
• Familiarity with SWIFT messaging is advantageous
