Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group's relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services. Our purpose is to: 'Build Australia's future economy' and we play a key role in reimagining banking and leading in Australia's transition.

Your Team

Global Institutional Banking Coverage (GIBC) sits within IB&M and leads banking relationship management and the provision of transaction banking, risk management and capital solutions to our clients. The team's purpose is to provide IB&M clients with solutions across the financing spectrum to support their strategic objectives.

Sustainable Finance and ESG is an important team within GIBC and work across all sectors, the broader Global Markets team and alongside other product partners. Within the Sustainable Finance team, you will contribute to business development opportunities across IB&M through pro-active engagement with bankers, development of marketing/education tools and generating new ideas based on market and industry involvement.

This role will report to the Executive Director of the Sustainable Finance team based in Melbourne and work closely with both senior and junior members of the team that are based in both Sydney and Melbourne.

The Opportunity
  • Work within a passionate and supportive team who take pride in supporting corporate Australia to achieve their sustainability and transition goals
  • Develop a strong understanding of the sustainable finance market, including opportunities, risks and products as they relate to Institutional borrowers and issuers
  • Support in the origination and structuring of sustainable finance transactions that align with market best practice and support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Undertake sustainability due diligence and research to inform client pitches and deal execution
  • Support in the development of pitching materials, loan documentation, sustainable finance framework documents and marketing materials, alongside review of ongoing reporting/assurance
  • Input and maintain client and transaction data for internal and external reporting requirements, and ensure data accuracy and quality across systems, including the sustainable finance pipeline management
  • Actively contribute to the team to ensure a positive team culture and support a safe and diverse workplace for all team members, customers and visitors

We're interested in hearing from people who have
  • A keen interest in sustainability, environmental and social issues and an awareness of sustainable finance instruments, market guidelines and principles.
  • Highly developed research, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration and negotiation skills and an ability to build rapport with clients and work colleagues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, combined with professional presentation
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to both learning and undertaking daily tasks
  • A proven ability to prioritise, and work in a fast-paced environment, at times requiring tight timeframes
  • Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, science, law, finance, numerical, or a business-related discipline
  • Prior experience in sustainability, law, and finance will be highly regarded
