We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Global Controls Senior Manager.

Principal Responsibilities

The role holder would support / drive key team responsibilities, including:
  • Overseeing the design, implementation, and execution of financial controls for all Financial Reporting Risk processes, to ensure outputs are free of material error and sufficiently rationalised
  • Providing independent review and challenge of output, with a focus of ensuring outputs are accurate and compliant with the relevant policies and standards
  • Facilitating 2LoD / 3LoD / external auditor assurances and reviews of our controls, including dry-runs, query responses, and remediation activities
  • Supporting markets to deliver control enhancements, with a key focus on controls on uplifting / standardising (see below)
The role holder would also support / drive key enhancement initiatives, including:
  • Designing the target state for a 'sustainable' control environment based on clearly articulated design criteria / requirements, considering documentation and evidence standards, rationalisation, use of applications / technology, Governance, and data lineage
  • Conducting a gap assessment between current and target states and generating a comprehensive, granular (control level) roadmap of enhancements required
  • Delivering the 1LoD control enhancements required to meet the 'sustainable' target state (identified above) and conducting 1LoD testing / reviews ("pre-assurance" ahead of 2LoD and 3LoD reviews) for all enhancements delivered
  • Supporting with the integrating and embedding of enhanced controls into the live environment, including teach-ins, handovers, and ongoing support
Other key responsibilities include:
  • Providing regular feedback, coaching and guidance
  • Nurturing strong internal and external networks to stay abreast of sector / technology developments and leading practices to continuously enhance GI Finance's controls environment
  • Driving the adoption of HSBC standards and working in alignment with HSBC methodology at all times
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in finance, with a strong background in financial processes and controls, preferably life insurance and banking
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality output with buy-in from key stakeholders
  • Experience working with globally dispersed teams and stakeholders
  • Understanding of Insurance, products, IFRS17, and key frameworks (e.g., Risk-Based Capital) is highly valued
  • Knowledge and experience with change management is highly valued
  • Experience in controls-related assurance and audit would be an advantage
