Relationship and Scope

The Chubb Engineering Centers (CEC) Controller FP&A Leader is a role that sits in the CFO Tech, Ops and Transformation organization and will report directly to the that position. This role will partner closely with the Global Head of CEC, Finance/Operations leaders of the various CEC entities and segment CFOs/Controllers from North America, Chubb Overseas General (COG) and Corporate.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

FP&A
  • Own and manage the overall FP&A function for CEC, including the annual plan, strategic plan and periodic forecasts.
  • Lead the financial elements of the annual planning and strategic outlook processes for CEC by working with CEC center finance leads and other functional leaders to develop required plan and strategic outlook materials.
  • Partner with local CEC center finance leads to develop standardized management reports that track MTD, QTD and YTD financial results and scrutinize them for completeness and accuracy. Provide analysis and insights on items driving variances to plan.
  • Periodically update and validate that the CBAs for the existing CEC center launches are delivering the value initially modeled.
  • Coordinate CBAs for additional CEC center launches

Controllership
  • Liaise with segment CFOs and controllers to provide monthly and quarterly oversight of Balance Sheet, P&L, Tax and Capital positions of the various CEC entities, with a primary focus on US GAAP.
  • Ensure appropriate execution of all financial controls for the various CEC entities.
  • Develop a strong reporting matrix with the local CEC Finance teams and become the key escalation point for any local finance issues that require attention. Effectively matrix with Corporate Accounting and Finance, Tax and other key partners across the enterprise to resolve these issues.
  • Own and control the intercompany billing process across all CEC centers. Liaise with finance counterparts across the enterprise to develop transparency of all pre allocated and post allocated costs
  • Partner with Global Tax to ensure transfer pricing agreements, intercompany agreements, invoicing processes etc. are in place to optimize CEC tax structures that mitigate tax leakage and tax audit risks.
  • Regularly monitor working capital positions of all CEC legal entities to proactively address any emerging capital pressures in order to stay liquid in the medium term.
  • Partner with local CEC Finance teams to help understand how to simplify/optimise finance processes and drive those changes.
  • Identify opportunities for CEC Finance to leverage Chubb technology and related tools to increase efficiency and turnaround time on key deliverables and ad-hoc requests.
  • Assist with special projects, both inter-departmental and external as needed.
  • Partner with COG and Corporate finance to monitor compliance with capitalization and amortization policies. Create transparency in where CEC related assets are being created and who is getting economic benefit from those assets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting, Finance or Economics. MBA/CPA preferred.
  • 15+ years of accounting and financial reporting including financial planning and analysis experience in the Financial Services industry, preferably insurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive controllership functions in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Finance operational processes.
  • Strong financial modelling and data analysis skills.
  • Proven experience with successfully managing multiple projects / deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate outside of a direct/matrix reporting organization.
  • Success in change management, and adept at gaining consensus.
  • Demonstrated relationship building and conflict resolution skills, particularly with senior executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate cross-group cooperation and influence change in others.
  • Demonstrated effective communicator across a range of audiences.
  • "Big picture" perspective.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment with a diverse workforce.
