Role Context:
We are looking for an ESG Data Analyst to join us to help collate and analyse sustainability data from across the group, enabling efficient delivery against evolving reporting requirements. This role in the Group Sustainability Reporting team will support the data management and reporting for the Group's external sustainability disclosures, and reports to the Group ESG Reporting Manager.
It's an exciting time to be involved in this fast-moving space, with companies coming under growing pressure to disclose more information on their sustainability efforts, and with regulations and disclosure frameworks evolving to allow for reporting in more standardised and comprehensive formats.
The role will play a key part in contributing to the processes that underpin the overall preparation and delivery of the Group's sustainability reporting, providing a great overview of the ESG activity being undertaken across the group. Key Responsibilities of the role include:
- Supporting the Group ESG Reporting Manager in the overall production of the Group's external sustainability reporting
- Working with internal team members across the M&G group to collate and consolidate data on material sustainability themes
- Working collaboratively with various subject matter experts to design appropriate metrics for inclusion in external reporting
- Maintaining, updating and running Python scripts to produce key sustainability metrics for external reporting
- Analyzing data to provide key trends and insights in clear and succinct reports
- Working with our assurance providers to ensure that their review of our sustainability metrics runs smoothly
- Keeping abreast of developments in the ESG disclosure space to ensure disclosures are in line with latest requirements of various regulatory bodies and emerging best practice
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Knowledge
To ensure your success in this role you will have:
- Strong knowledge of sustainability matters in financial services, including sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g. TCFD, PCAF etc) and sustainability metrics
- Knowledge of savings & investment products, markets and competitors
- Working knowledge data management frameworks and database systems
- Some knowledge of industry trends, best practice and developments in ESG
- Good networks / links with external bodies and individuals in the same field
Skills:
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistical modelling and data visualisation
- Advanced Python proficiency necessary and advanced Excel proficiency desired
- Ability to effectively communicate on activities and outcomes on material ESG issues
- Detail-oriented and ability to think critically
- Ability to work collaboratively with inter-disciplinary teams
- Proactive self-starter who takes ownership, and has a strong track record for delivery
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and identify trends and areas of priority focus
Experience:
Previous experience working in regulated financial services environment, with a sustainable data management background, including:
- Experience in analysing sustainability data
- Experience of ensuring business alignment with key sustainability measurement frameworks
- Experience of reporting against regulatory and voluntary frameworks
- Experience of identifying areas for improvement in data management processes
