Your New Role

The Investment Tax teamprovides tax support to the Investment team with respect to the Fund's domesticand international investments across a number of unlisted investment assetclasses (infrastructure, property, private equity and credit). The Tax Analystwill provide tax compliance, asset management and operational support to ensureAware Super's meet its tax obligations with respect to its domestic and foreigninvestments. In the role of Tax Analyst,Investment Tax, you will:
  • Prepare income tax returns for domestic and international investment entities;
  • Coordinate with tax advisors, external fund managers and the custodian to collate information and manage queries relating to the income tax returns;
  • Actively engage with the external fund manager and custodian to ensure the integrity of the tax data received;
  • Assist with the onboarding of investments with the custodian;
  • Respond to information requests from our custodian relating to our investments;
  • Contribute to a team culture that is high performing and supportive.

You will be supportingthe overall tax strategy by protecting both the members' returns and AwareSuper's tax profile and ensuring readiness for regulatory engagement. In addition,you will have the opportunity to:
  • Gain exposure and knowledge in the taxation of investments, both domestic and international;
  • Continue to develop professionally through the fortnightly internal tax training program and other development opportunities offered by Aware Super;
  • Develop a network within the superannuation industry.

How do you exceed our expectations?
  • The idea of being part of our growth is exciting and you want to play a pivotal role in making super simple.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience specialising in tax with a focus on tax compliance and/or tax operations within an accounting firm, custodian and/or superannuation fund;
  • Experience in preparation of income tax returns (companies, trusts, partnerships, super funds etc);
  • Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail;
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong proficiency with Excel and Microsoft 365, with data analytics experience highly regarded;
  • Formal tertiary qualifications in commerce/accounting;
  • You are balanced in accepting risk in any decision you face. You are curious to understand risk context and choose to speak up as we simplify, learn and grow.
