How will I help?

The WIB Senior Credit Officer will be primarily responsible for credit risk approval and management of a portfolio of Bank and Non-Bank Financial Institutions exposures. Responsibilities will extend to credit risk management of Financial Markets and Treasury activity. More specifically, you will demonstrate prudent and clear judgment in the assessment and management of the credit risks within the business, including the early recognition of problem loans and implementation of remediation plans. You will adopt a continuous improvement policy to build the Westpac brand leadership in the market. In addition to this you will:
  • Contribute to the strategic positioning of WIB to ensure that credit strategies and policies are appropriately aligned with business units objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of a sound credit culture within the business.
  • Work closely with the business to optimise risk utilisation to maximise the return to the bank from the defined / available risk appetite.

What do I need?

The ideal candidate will come from an extensive background of credit-related roles, previous delegated authority to approve credit risk is highly desirable. You will have previous experience in credit analysis of the Bank and Non-Bank Financial Institutions sector. In addition, Structured Finance experience will be considered highly advantageous. Additionally, the preferred candidate will have:
  • Practical knowledge of legal documentation.
  • Ability to act independently, think innovatively, solve problems and exhibit a growth mindset.
  • Superior communication skills, as well as excellent negotiating and influencing skills.
  • A business degree or post graduate finance qualification would be well regarded as well as industry qualifications such as CFA, AIMR, GARP or PRMIA.
