Job Description
How will I help?
The CIB Legal team is a collegiate corporate legal team providing high quality advice to Westpac Institutional Bank ("WIB"), a Division of Westpac Group. Through the partnership with key internal and external stakeholders this role will support the Westpac Group's legal and risk strategy by influencing, negotiating and consulting. Our legal advice is accurate, timely, cost effective and commercial.
You will provide legal advice and support to WIB's Corporate & Institutional Banking ("CIB") Line of Business. Your primary focus will be on the Specialised Finance products in CIB, but the demands of the business (and CIB Legal's response to that demand) may require you to support other CIB legal areas, including lending to specified industry sectors. These businesses provide finance solutions for Westpac's institutional banking clients, including Australia's largest corporates, financial institutions and Governments.
Key responsibilities in this role will require you to:
• Independently advise, draft documents and assist in negotiation of transactions in compliance with laws, policies and requirements;
• Ensure external legal resources are properly and efficiently selected and used
• Provide insight to CIB business partners on and guide implementation of external advice
• Ensure outputs produced by external counsel complies with our policies and requirements
• Partner with the CIB business in maintaining awareness of relevant regulatory requirements
• Work closely with other CIB Legal lawyers, Financial Markets (FM) Legal Global Transaction Solutions (GTS) Legal and Westpac's wider Legal & Secretariat function and other stakeholders to deliver high quality outcomes.

What do I need?
- Previous legal experience in a law firm or financial service organisation across institutional lending
- Previous experience in securitisation and structured finance but experience in trade finance, project finance, acquisition finance or asset would also be beneficial.
- Strong commercial acumen
- Solutions-focused with strong stakeholder management
