Job Description

Pacific Life Re ("PL Re") is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of quality and operational excellence across the organisation. After a significant global expansion and a strategic push to standardise systems and platforms worldwide, PL Re has recently launched a back-office transformation programme (Project Unify) which covers all aspects of our back office across Finance, Corporate Actuarial and Operations.

The Finance Transformation, Divisional area will play a key role in this programme over the next few years both implementing change across the business and embedding it within the business. Project Unify will also align with our parent company's finance transformation initiatives.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Finance Transformation, Divisional team to support the back-office transformation programme (Project Unify) on a 12 month contract .

This role will join the AVP, Finance Transformation, Divisional in representing FP&A within the various Project Unify and parent company initiatives to ensure the back-office vision is achieved.

The role will cover re-designing processes and delivering change across several FP&A processes, including :
  • Implementation of Oracle modules related to Expense and Financial Planning, including defining requirements and system testing.
  • Implementation of standardised management information analysis, ensuring these meet stakeholder requirements.
  • Defining and documenting process and controls related to new technology and tools implemented.
  • Close alignment with other cross functional teams (e.g. Financial Reporting, Corporate Actuarial) to ensure solutions achieve our vision.
  • Training development and roll out.
  • Other project support as required.

The Finance Transformation, Divisional team will be supported by Subject Matter Experts from our offices in London, Singapore, Toronto and Sydney, as well as be required to liaise with our parent company, Pacific Life.

The individual should have an appreciation of the processes and controls required throughout the back-office. This is a very varied role, which will give the individual the opportunity to shape novel solutions as well as use analytical and problem-solving skills.

We are looking for candidates with a strong technical background who can quickly learn new tools/processes and take forward tasks with a degree of autonomy, while seeking to question and improve existing processes. As this role interacts with many teams across PL Re, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Duties will include:
  • Leading and participating in design and requirement workshops;
  • Stakeholder communication and discussion, including status updates on the progress of the project;
  • Advocating for Global FP&A teams;
  • Ensuring solutions selected & design decisions are fit for purpose for users;
  • Testing of systems implemented to ensure they meet business requirements; and
  • Advising and reviewing documentation produced across the project, including, process & control flows, standard operating procedure and training documents.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Multi year experience as a Manager post Accounting qualification
  • Experience in global FP&A functions and/or (re)insurance industry
  • Experience in finance transformation/continuous improvement initiatives desired
  • Experience in the use of Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) desired
  • Strong independent thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive and not afraid to provide sufficient challenge to the status quo
  • Strong communication skills across different disciplines and levels of seniority within the organisation
  • Ability to be pragmatic and adapt to changing circumstances with ease
  • Ability to produce high quality work within agreed deadlines
  • Team player who can maintain good working relationships
  • Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritise workload
