Job Description

We're recruiting for a Head of Insurance Engagement and Management to join our Group functions. The purpose of this role is to develop the appropriate framework across Legal & General to oversee our insurance arrangements, ensuring we have adequate cover in place to manage our risks and provide robustness in the decisions we are taking.

The position demands comprehensive insurance knowledge and an understanding that encompasses robust stakeholder engagement with SMEs across different businesses to collect information on business necessities and evolving demands. It will include presenting to various risk committees and maintaining frequent communication with risk associates to comprehend alterations in our risk profile that should be taken into account for insurance purposes, such as cyber insurance. What you'll be doing:
  • Set out the strategy and model for L&G's Group insurance. Support the optimisation of the group insurance programme by working closely with the broker and internal stakeholders to agree and implement our proposed insurance strategy. Ensure policies and premiums are appropriately sized to ensure adequate cover and value for money
  • Assume responsibility for managing the Group Insurance program, which includes establishing a solid governance framework to guarantee oversight and the documentation of crucial decisions. Create an updated matrix of roles and responsibilities that encompasses all insurance policies relevant to our different legal entities, detailing the input, oversight, and approval process to ensure transparency and adherence to the appropriate governance level. This should be reviewed at a minimum once a year
  • Acquire knowledge and comprehension of our diverse businesses to serve as the subject matter expert on L&G insurance, playing a crucial role in the supervision, coordination, and management of our array of insurance policies. This includes the capability to address ad hoc insurance-related inquiries and claims, as well as resolving issues arising from business operations. Additionally, oversee the renewal of divisional policies
  • Own the relationship with our insurance broker(s) ensuring that we have regular updates with them and have a robust process around our policy renewal process to ensure renewals are timely
  • Re-visit the RFP process to ensure that we are not duplicating efforts in how we respond to due diligence queries
  • Present at various forums, including risk committees on our insurance cover and the decisions we've taken around insurance
  • As an Insurance Subject Matter Expert (SME), in collaboration with brokers, I offer insights into emerging risks and market developments that may affect the types and levels of coverage selected
  • Serve as the primary contact for insurance-related inquiries and needs, which includes liaising with Group Legal and stakeholders to ensure that any arising claims are handled properly and brought to resolution, as well as assisting with customer RFP due diligence responses
Qualifications

Who we're looking for:
  • Insurance related preferable, but would consider strong industry relevant insurance experience.
  • Good insurance and risk landscape knowledge, including building a knowledge of the L&G businesses.
  • Strong all round insurance SME experience.
  • Ability to engage with senior stakeholders across the organisation, deal with difficult commercial decisions/discussions and present at forums/committees.
