The Role:
Our Impact equities team is looking for an experienced investor that can serve as a portfolio manager on our Climate and Nature focused strategy, and work closely with in the team responsible for our award-winning Positive Impact fund.
You can become part of an experienced, fast growing and diverse team that is characterised by a strong investment culture and patient investment philosophy.
The investment process puts a heavy emphasis on diligent fundamental research, sustainability considerations and engagement. On the Impact strategies we aim to invest in high quality companies that are providing real and meaningful solutions to solve major societal problems - from health to social inequality, climate change, environmental issues and biodiversity loss. We also aim, as Impact investors, to use our influence to drive positive outcomes and address negative ones.
The team takes pride in its collaborative culture making this a great opportunity to work alongside other talented individuals. The highly diverse research team consists of nine investment professionals, an impact lead, an engagement lead and three more commercially oriented individuals. It is supported by a central research team, a large stewardship and sustainability team as well as other specialised functions. The team is recognised as one of the pioneers in listed equity Impact, but equally for their longstanding investment track record, patient investment style, thorough investment process and high integrity.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide fundamental research insight and modelling
- All team members produce deep due diligence research based on out well established Impact investment framework. The research process is very collaborative, but also highly demanding
- Participate actively in managing, supporting the Impact fund range
- Work closely with the lead fund manager and team head John William Olsen regarding investment decisions and portfolio considerations on the Positive Impact fund
- Be the lead manager of our Nature focussed strategy
- Help build external network and Biodiversity engagement programme
- Continue to evolve or nature focussed engagement across the teams fund range in collaboration with the stewardship and sustainability team
- Establish an external network with universities and other capabilities to strengthen our expertise in nature related matters
- Participate in fund marketing and other promotional activities
- Help promote the teams fund range
- Writing blogs and participation in industry panels
- Mentoring of less experienced team members, represent the team philosophy and implement our process diligently
- All senior members of the team collaborate to spread best practise and help carry the distinct team culture
- Contribute analytically to the broader M&G equities team
- The team is renowned for its in-depth research and long investment horizon. The candidate would be expected to collaborate broadly across the floor, and help educate and counsel colleagues regarding sustainability matters
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Fund management experience, with a passion for proper long-term investing
- We prefer a candidate with a successful background in both equity research and fund management with more than 10 years of industry experience
- Relevant experience in sustainability or climate-oriented roles will count as a clear positive
- Appropriate university level educational background
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Strong presentation skills and experience
