Role summary

This role provides specialist advice and support on technical accounting matters, leading on the resolution of technical matters and ensuring that accounting policies are in line with practice and regulatory developments. This role prepares parts of the Group's consolidated accounts as well as supports the subsidiary accounts and disclosures.

What you'll be doing
  • Develop, implement and maintain the application of the Group's accounting policy guidance
  • Provide training and query resolution of accounting requirements.
  • Provide specialist ad hoc accounting advice.
  • Review of the Group's subsidiary accounts and disclosures including:
    • Prepare subsidiary accounts templates;
    • Provide disclosure advice on requirements for section 172 (of the Companies Act); and
    • Provide advice on disclosure requirements for unusual and significant transactions, including asset/business transfers.
  • Support on ad hoc projects such as dividend assessments across the group structure, restructuring of intercompany loans and dissolution of entities.
  • Identify improvements, and assess accounting for new and existing activities and transaction flows.
  • Support in the development of finance systems.
  • Provide guidance to and mentor other members of the team and support the Finance Department, as required.
What you'll bring
  • Degree (or equivalent) and qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent).
  • 8 years plus PQE.
  • Extensive and current knowledge of financial reporting standards.
  • Proven track record in:
    • Technical accounting (principally IFRS, US GAAP useful);
    • Cross geographical reporting lines and global relationships; and
    • Preparing statutory accounts.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with global colleagues.
  • Effective oral and written communication that resonates with the target audience, including other qualified senior accountants.
  • Pro-active behaviour that demonstrates initiative and positive work ethic to ensure activities are delivered to the required time, budget and quality.
  • Ability to utilise all available resources and toolsets to investigate and resolve problems and ensures the most appropriate solution is identified.
  • Strong planning and prioritising according to business needs.
