Great American Financial Division co-ops quickly become an integral part of our financial reporting team. Our rotational program allows students to experience several departments in our organization by working in a new area each semester. This position consists of a full semester in up to four different departments such as Corporate Accounting, Investment Accounting, SEC Finance, and Internal Audit. The co-op will begin in Summer 2025 and is based in our Cincinnati, OH headquarters.

Corporate Accounting Department
- Prepare schedules to support the monthly consolidated financial statements.
- Prepare monthly tax provisions and book general ledger entries.
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of the monthly earnings packages.
- Prepare annual/ quarterly statutory-basis statements and filings.
Investment Accounting Department
- Prepare monthly closing package and supporting schedules, including cash and inventory reconciliations, for multiple subsidiaries.
- Record investment income and carrying values into the subsidiaries' general ledgers.
- Analysis of investment results and investigation of variances.
- Prepare annual/ quarterly statutory-basis statements and filings.
SEC Reporting Department
- Assist in the preparation of AFG's SEC forms 10-K, 10-Q and 13-F, including preparation of supporting documentation.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for the AFG managed collateralized loan obligations (CLOs) that are required to be included in AFG's consolidated financial statements.
- Proofread and perform other clerical duties related to the preparation of AFG's SEC forms 10-K and/or 10-Q.
- Prepare and/or review various internal management reports using Excel, the Company's general ledger system, and SEC reporting system.
Internal Audit Department
- Perform internal audits and review internal controls for effectiveness and efficiency.
- Test the reasonableness of financial balances and ensure compliance with statutory and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Prepare electronic audit workpapers in accordance with company and external audit standards.
- Inform the audit coordinator of the progress of assignments and discuss results and recommendations for improvement with audit team and company management.
