The team you'll work with:
The role holder will work closely with the HSBC Innovation Banking Tax team, the wider tax function and outsourced providers to ensure efficient delivery of the tax services, leveraging off the tax SME's in the group spanning all areas of tax.
The value you'll add:
The Senior Tax Manager will provide oversight over all areas of Tax for HSBC Innovation Banking.
You will provide strategic direction and guidance to senior management at HSBC Innovation Banking on tax-related issues and ensure the effective implementation of tax projects.
This includes addressing European tax risks associated with the wider Innovation Banking business and overseeing all tax risks under their responsibility.
Principal Responsibilities:
Develop and implement tax compliance and risk management policies in alignment with Group standards.
Ensure accuracy in documentation and reporting for local and global tax obligations.
Offer tax advisory expertise on HSBC Innovation Banking products.
Oversee corporate, indirect, and other tax compliance activities, including those managed through external partnerships.
Lead on tax matters, influencing decisions by stakeholders and providing consistent risk management solutions.
Ensure management understands the tax implications of business operations and make recommendations for improvement.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration on tax issues and ensure effective implementation of tax-related recommendations.
Maintain efficient tax risk management and compliance models, managing internal and external assurance programs.
Identify key tax risks, including Corporate Income Tax, FATCA/CRS delivery, operational tax compliance, and transfer pricing documentation.
Controls and Compliance
Address operational risks and adhere to relevant laws, rules, and Group Compliance Policies.
Continuously assess and manage direct and operational tax risks amid changing conditions and regulatory updates.
Maintain HSBC's internal control standards and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures.
Requirements:
You must be a Qualified tax professional (Chartered Accountant, Tax specialist, Doctor of Laws or equivalent).
Must have proven track record corporate, international and operational tax knowledge and experience.
In house tax experience, preferably gained in another Financial Services institution (alternatively, in-house tax experience and FS Tax experience gained in a Big Four firm).
Demonstrate experience in managing a tax team and reporting to senior management.
Strong leadership and team management skills required.
