Investment Accountant

The Investment Accountant role will play a critical role and be accountable for Suncorp's investment general ledger mapping and reporting. The role provides Financial Control Subject Matter Expertise in the transition to a new investment custodian.

What you'll do:

• Enable Financial Control operational readiness of a change in investment custodian including general ledger mapping, testing and reporting.
• Lead the delivery of technical accounting advices in relation to investment portfolios as required.
• Proactively liaise with auditors in relation to potential positions taken, new or amended disclosures and other matters that can be cleared proactively prior to the commencement of the audit planning.
• Responsible for new procedures and the updating of existing procedures for investment statutory & regulatory reporting requirements.
• Identify opportunities for standardisation and process improvement
• Work with internal stakeholders to ensure all reporting deliverables are met.
• Value contribution to project team ensuring deliverables are met on time..
• Review reporting disclosures prepared by the Custodian, liaise with the key stakeholders in the Business in relation to issues as they arise
• Promote an environment of continuous improvement and simplification, encouraging innovation, creativity and lateral thinking.

What you'll bring

• Degree qualification in accounting (mandatory)
• Chartered Accountant or CPA, or working towards (mandatory)
• 5 years accounting experience in the financial services industry with emphasis on Investments statutory and regulatory reporting (desired)
• 5+ years of financial reporting experience (mandatory)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required, both written and verbal
