We currently have an exciting opportunity in Sydney which plays a major part in the success of Hannover Re globally.
We are seeking a Technical Accountant to join our team. The role will be a permanent part time role working 17.5 hours per week reporting directly to our Head of Technical Accounting.

As a Technical Accountant you will be responsible for all elements of Reinsurance Technical Accounting including preparation of financial reporting, analysis and reporting of results and preparation of consolidated financial data.

Key Responsibilities
About the role
As a Technical Accountant you will be responsible for all elements of Reinsurance Technical Accounting including preparation of financial reporting, analysis and reporting of results and preparation of consolidated financial data.
Your day may look a little like:
- Effective and timely monitoring of emails, claims and technical accounts triage
- Ensuring accurate and timely claims reserves, technical accounts and payments have been completed along with portfolio management
- Managing a variety of technical accounts and claims within Excess of Loss, Quota Share, Facultative preparations
- Ensuring claims are appropriately interpreted, reserved and handled
- Processing updates, registering new losses and finalisation of claims
- Maintaining client claim files and ensuring the required level of service is of the highest standard until deemed closed and finalised
- Conducting reviews on open claims and attending claims review
- Booking adjustments on Cat Losses on quarterly basis
- Liaising with Underwriting team for overdue premiums
- Supporting reconciliation and data checks
- Doxis Filing including processed closings, claims and peer review and sign off accounts
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You will need to have:
- Advanced level excel skills
- Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting or related field is an advantage
- Experience in SAP Re7 technical accounting
- Ability to problem solve effectively and independently coupled with a positive attitude and open mind
- Demonstrated ability to work in an environment requiring high levels of accuracy
- Relationship management skills
- Strategic thinking capabilities
- Ability to liaise at a senior level
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectively
- Clear and effective communication, both written and verbal
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
