Background to MedAccess
We live in a golden age of medical science. But over two billion people can't access the medicines they need, causing preventable illness, disease and death.
We're here to change that.
MedAccess is a social enterprise committed to improving health in more than 110 countries. Our mission is to cut illness and death by speeding up access to lifesaving vaccines, medicines, diagnostics and technologies for people in underserved communities.
We broker and finance agreements - which otherwise wouldn't be made - to bring medical innovations to more people, in more countries, as quickly as possible. To date, we have helped to accelerate access to products to tackle HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, syphilis and COVID-19.
We bring financial rigour and commercial acumen to address some of the most pressing global health needs. Using $200 million capital from British International Investment, our team of global health and investment experts shape agreements that lower prices and secure supply of medical products.
We are doers with big dreams, busy trying to change the world. Our team is purpose-driven, inspiring, and innovative. We start from where partners are and work together to get where we need to be. But we're not afraid to go against the grain - in fact, we pride ourselves on our honest and original approach and unconventional thinking.
Our work is underpinned by our five core values:
▸We are mission driven
▸We are humble
▸We are relentless about rigour
▸We build trust
▸We invest in people
MedAccess is independent and not-for-profit, with any operating surpluses invested into developing new agreements to accelerate access to healthcare.

The role
Following the successful appointment of an Investment Professional in February 2024, MedAccess is looking to further expand the team as part of a long-term growth plan and is currently looking to hire another Investment Professional who will play a central role in developing, executing and implementing deals that will position MedAccess for significant long-term impact in global health. This is an exciting and unique opportunity which transcends the entire life cycle of a MedAccess deal.
The Investment Professional will primarily focus on origination, structuring, execution and monitoring of transactions both financially and for development impact.
Key responsibilities
▸Key role alongside senior members of the team in all areas of the investment process
▸Identify, screen and assess potential investment opportunities

▸Ownership of financial and deal models, including researching appropriate data sources, developing reasonable assumptions and creating clear outputs
▸Preparation of investment papers and presentation to Investment Committee
▸Coordinate transaction implementation and monitoring
▸Ensure strategic alignment of transaction partners, including convening meetings and driving agenda
▸Develop and execute deal-specific implementation plans to ensure timely identification of key risks and resolution of any potential issues
▸Guide and manage junior team members
Candidate profile
Background
▸Minimum four years of work experience in an investing role or strong transaction experience from investment banking, corporate finance, or other in-house corporate development teams is critical to this role

▸Strong deal sheet and excellent commercial acumen and judgement for assessing and analysing investment opportunities and risks
▸Ability to manage multiple workstreams concurrently and collaborate as part of a team
▸Strong written and oral communication skills with the confidence to convey informed viewpoints to colleagues and external counterparties
▸Well-rounded self-starter with good judgement, attention to detail and the resourcefulness to develop innovative approaches
