Leads a global team to develop, implement, and execute an organi s ation-wide procurement technology category strategy covering global and local technology procurement spend that optimizes employee capabilities, achieves the organi s ation's strategic objectives , liaises with key stakeholders, coordinates global and local procurements projects in order to deliver competitive advantage through cost base reductions.
Category Management is a critical procurement discipline to ensure ING achieves best value for money when it comes to procuring its goods and services. It is a well-established, comprehensive, and marketing leading procurement approach that considers ING's organi s ational goals, technology strategy, objectives , and requirements, as well as the technology market conditions and innovations, to ensure the most cost-effective, innovative and efficient procurement of goods and services.
The Tribe Lead Technology Category will use their deep technology knowledge to understand market trends, create and manage commercially robust vendor relationships, and optimise all aspects of vendor selection. This role will manage the complexity from rapid evolution of technology, diverse global markets, and the need to navigate global logistical challenges while staying updated with emerging trends and regulations globally. Ultimately, technology expertise empowers the category manager to develop the category strategy, make informed decisions, mitigate risks, and streamline processes for successful global operations.
The challenge is not only building the capabilities, but also embedding the ir usage and application across the global organisation.

In this role you will be responsible for:
- Setting the delivery of technology category management across all in-scope global services, consolidating the bottom-up plans and objectives at a regional level into a single category strategy aligned clearly to company-wide priorities and with corresponding plans.
- The execution of agreed initiatives to improve cost, reduce risk, drive ESG improvements and enhance colleagues experience across the Group and to ensure effective implementation of the Banks and Procurement's goals.

Your responsibilities
- Development and presentation of the global category strategy aligned with key stakeholders and business and technology strategy.
- Profiling of the global technology spend and contracts.
- Collation of global and local business requirements for in scope goods and services.
- Undertaking regular market research harnessing leading benchmarks and research insights to identify and deliver best-in-class solutions for ING.
- Leading the reduction in purchase cost of in scope services through;
- Negotiating highly competitive global rates and implementing pan-bank commercial models that leverage ING's full global spend
- Management of demand through proactive forecasting, standardisation and harmonisation of specifications and requirements
- Increased efficiency through standardisation, simplification, and digitisation of associated sourcing and supplier management processes.
- Establishing a clear set of policies and procedures on sourcing of in scope services for end-users and cross-functional teams to drive consistency and facilitate benefits tracking.
- Working with senior business stakeholders to manage key strategic supplier relationships within the category to further develop service performance, address key category-level risks and issues, drive ongoing 'in-contract' cost reductions and identify leading innovation through effective supplier partnering.
- Establish and lead relevant governance forum(s) to bring together key stakeholders across ING and ensure alignment on an agreed category strategy, plan and ensure regular reporting and updates on progress and performance to executive sponsors.
- Build a strong and effective team that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve collective success whilst creating a culture of strong teamwork and individual development across the GPB and Local Procurement teams.

- Minimum 15 years of relevant procurement experience
- Successful track record of full technology end to end category management delivery and senior management / executive stakeholder engagement
- Track record of developing a global technology category strategy, implementation plan and gaining sign off across a complex global organisation and multiple stakeholders
- Deep knowledge of the financial regulatory environment and the risks and opportunities provided by technology
- Deep knowledge of market trends and innovations and translation of these into procurement opportunities
- Deep knowledge of best practices in peer group companies and leading procurement practices in Technology category management to identify and bring about changes necessary to compete effectively
- Ability to influence, direct and regulate the activity of key technology stakeholders
- Deep knowledge of sustainability practices and the actions needed to reduce the impact of the technology supply chain on the environment
- Commercial drive and a high level of self-motivation, combined with well-developed risk awareness
- A leader able to motivate and coordinate multiple direct and indirect teams, engage and gain buy in from senior stakeholders and create a united vision and direction
- A proven track record within Procurement of being able to connect people, and be a role-model and foster inclusion
- Ability to navigate ambiguity well and is culturally adaptable and sensitive.
