About the role
The Sustainability Function at Rabobank Australia is responsible for translating, communicating, and embedding sustainability into the Banks broader agenda and supporting the Bank to deliver on a range of commitments and obligations. These commitments and obligations relate specifically to emissions reductions, climate risk, nature, and modern slavery. The sustainability team's role is to support and facilitate farm practice change as part of our commitment as a transition bank.
The Sustainability team has a key role in defining, planning, and executing on sustainability related strategies through policy implementation, education and training, engagement risk-reward frameworks, and transition finance.
This role is to support the sustainability function at Rabobank Australia to actively support the Bank and our client's transition. The role will focus on building capability with front line Account Managers to facilitate farm practice change to low emission production systems, build resilience to future climate shocks, protect and restore nature and leverage opportunities related to natural capital.
This will involve supporting frontline staff to facilitate farm practice change in line with transition requirements. The role supports farm emissions reduction action plans, climate risk mitigation, natural capital baselines and action plans and sustainability practice change in general.

The key responsibilities and accountabilities of this role are to:
- Supporting frontline staff in engaging with clients to facilitate transition.
- Assisting in the implementation of training programs for clients.
- Supporting training initiatives related to sustainability practices for both staff and clients.
- Fostering subject matter expertise in the regions.
- Engaging with the business for project rollouts (e.g., emissions data capture, sustainability assessments).
- Facilitating sustainable practice changes within client operations including developing sustainability plans.
- Promoting the use of tools and resources for informed decision-making.
- Helping clients complete farm emissions calculations and to develop strategies to reduce farm emissions.
- Assisting clients in developing strategies to mitigate climate-related risks.
- Supporting clients in protecting and restoring natural capital.
- Supporting the implementation of sustainability assessments frameworks
- Translating sustainability principles into client business best practice
- Supporting the development of transition finance solutions
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Bachelor's degree or Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, sustainability, social sciences, or other relevant disciplines.
- Prior experience in sustainability-related roles, preferably within the banking or financial sector related to the food and sectors.
- Familiarity with sustainable farm practices, climate change mitigation, and natural capital assessment and enhancement
- Experience working with clients or stakeholders to drive sustainable initiatives.
- Experience with biodiversity assessment
- Ability to manage and implement sustainability projects effectively.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with clients, staff, and external partners.
- Proficiency in analysing sustainability data, emissions calculations, and risk assessments.
- Skill in facilitating practice changes and promoting sustainable behaviour.
