Job Description

  • The tax accountant is primarily responsible for all U.S. federal income tax return filings and computations related to domestic operations (including but not limited to forms 1065 and 1120), U.S. federal and state quarterly income tax estimates and monthly, quarterly and annual U.S. federal tax provisions as well as the preparation of the U.S. federal tax computation for the ten-year plan.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual income tax provisions (ASC 740) and supporting documentation. (40%)
  • Preparation of the compliance team to prepare federal income tax return forms and supporting documentation. (30%)
  • Preparation of quarterly federal and state income tax estimates. (10%)
  • Prepare and update annual forecasts, as well as the 10-year plan, for relevant federal and state income tax inputs (10%)
  • Support tax research and analysis for issues that arise during preparation of federal tax returns or income tax provisions. (5%)
  • Support other departments with various requests and questions relating to federal or state income taxes (e.g. form W-9, applicable tax rates etc.). (5%)
  • Provide technical leadership and support to other federal tax staff.
  • Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

  • 4 or more years of related work experience which is in tax accounting with a certified public accountant (CPA) designation or graduate degree.
  • Strong knowledge of tax law and procedures, tax research skills, familiarity with various tax returns and schedules.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Strong accounting and financial statement knowledge.
  • Strong computer software skills: for example: MS Office Suite especially Excel
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
