US GAAP Technical Accounting Specialist

£500 - £700 per day outside IR35

Contract 3 - 5 months

Remote - can be based anywhere in the UK

(mostly from home, very occasional at client office)

They are a specialist firm of consultants and accountants providing technical accounting advisory and consultancy services to a wide array of clients including house-hold names, FTSE 100 listed companies and international groups. With an approach based on genuine partnership, they combine extensive technical, practical and commercial advisory expertise with pragmatic experience and solutions. They have a contract role for a qualified accountant to assist in US GAAP conversion projects. This will be the first time run through in US GAAP for this client so advanced technical knowledge of US GAAP is essential. Candidates will have to demonstrate their experience of US GAAP technical knowledge on their CV and in particular experience of Form 10-K and relevant disclosures.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Significant US GAAP knowledge and experience essential including extensive knowledge, experience and technical understanding of Form 10-K and disclosure requirements gained outside a financial services industry environment
  • Understanding of US GAAP as it applies to non-financial services companies particularly software companies
  • Qualified accountant with technical accounting experience of US GAAP is essential
  • Minimum of 5 years post qualified experience and experience of preparation and actually writing financial statements to comply with US GAAP financial statements requirements including disclosures
  • Experience of reviewing statutory accounts and/ or managing audit services to large businesses
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage time, prioritise tasks and produce deliverables of a high standard
  • Good understanding of the workings of a finance function

Candidates whose experience of form 10-k has only been gained within a banking industry environment will not be considered

THE ROLE

You will be a key member of the team delivering technical accounting advisory services on project in the key business areas of Accounting Advisory (new complex accounting standards, application of GAAP and conversions). The role will primarily focus on advisory work and writing of financial statements and preparation of Form -10k and all relevant disclosures to a software company under US GAAP but you will need some knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP. Your role includes the following:
  • Implementing accounting standards and GAAP conversions
  • In particular your focus will be on a US GAAP project with a first time run through on US GAAP using your in-depth knowledge of Form-10K and relevant disclosures and writing and preparing financial statements
  • Supporting clients on accounting remediation projects
  • US GAAP financial and statutory accounts preparation
  • Developing accounting policies, procedures and controls
  • Accounting support including historic financial information reporting, working capital modelling and pro-forma reporting and possibly post deal supporting embedding new entities and changes
  • Ability to project manage engagements to meet deadlines and budgets.
