Main Purpose:
- To draft and review oil, power, and gas related sales, purchase and storage agreements to ensure that Trafigura is fully and legally protected
- To ensure that all contracts are consistent with Pluto entry (inhouse trading system) to prevent P&L losses and to ensure that all documentary/financial instruments are issued correctly
- To provide advice to traders and operators highlighting any potential problems that may arise as a result of the contract, and suggesting remedies to reduce such risks.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
This role will report into the Contracts Admin Manager based in Calgary.
- To draft and review oil, power, and gas related sales, purchase and storage agreements to ensure that Trafigura is fully and legally protected
- To ensure that all contracts are consistent with Pluto entry (inhouse trading system) to prevent P&L losses and to ensure that all documentary/financial instruments are issued correctly
- To provide advice to traders and operators highlighting any potential problems that may arise as a result of the contract, and suggesting remedies to reduce such risks.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
- Basic understanding of the application of Incoterms 2000, 2010 and 2020 respectively (particularly with regards to FOB/ CFR/CIF/DES/DDU/DDP, DAT/DAP and DPU respectively)
- Knowledge of the practical application of contracts for the physical movement of oil, power, and gas and Laytime and Demurrage within a contract is a plus
- Good understanding of Legal Clauses applicable to physical delivery contracts (including force majeure, limitation of liability, assignability, default and liquidation, waivers etc)
- Sound experience of the movement of commodities both domestically and internationally.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is a must
- Preparing and reviewing contracts for the physical movement of power and gas which accurately reflect the verbal negotiations
- Processing and reviewing of contractual amendments, including the countering of commercial terms, operational terms, payment provisions, laytime and demurrage provisions, and legal provisions
- Liaising with traders, operators and other internal departments highlighting potential risks in the transactions and providing advice to reduce the same
- Preparing and reviewing other oil related agreements including; tender documents, bookout agreements, storage agreements, master trading agreements, and counterparty general terms and conditions
