Senior Financial Analyst

The Senior Financial Analyst develops, interprets, and maintains the Allowance for Credit Loss (ACL) calculation and the supporting documentation for asset quality assurance. This includes preparing the Bank's ACL calculation which includes working with a third party provider. This position also supports general accounting functions and tasks, including data analytics, account reconciliations, and internal and external reporting.

This is primarily an onsite position reporting to our Corporate Office in Solvay, NY.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, a comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and internal control requirements, as well as 3 to 5 years of public accounting or banking experience.

Loan Accounting & Risk Specialist AVP, Controller

POSITION SUMMARY:

Develops, interprets, and maintains the Accounting for Credit Losses calculation and supporting documentation for asset quality assurance.

JOB RESPONSBILITIES

  • Prepares the Bank's monthly and quarterly Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) calculations for loans, investments, and off-balance sheet commitments, including support detail and analysis.
  • Reviews third party reports surrounding statistical analysis and forecasting of ACL input and modeling criteria.
  • Summarizes and prepares reports on Credit Loss, Delinquencies, risk ratings, charge-offs and recoveries, loans modifications with financial difficulty, and allocated loss reserves.
  • Works with Credit Administration for accurate reporting of asset quality.
  • Ensures up to date documentation of key internal control surrounding the ACL.
  • Maintains documentation of supporting information for the ACL model.
  • Coordinates with management to analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations to update to the ACL calculations.
  • Assists with gathering information for internal and external audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Assists in the preparation of the bank's annual report and quarterly call report. Researches, gathers data to prepare regulatory agency and government reports.
  • Assists as necessary with general ledger reconciliations.
  • Performs other tasks as requested by manager as they relate to the bank and its functions.
  • Adheres to bank policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and internal control requirements
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • PC skills with a Windows environment.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • 4-year college degreein accounting or finance
  • 3-5 years public accounting or banking experience preferred
