Overview

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.

Together, Silicon Valley Bank and First Citizens offer you the strength and stability of a diversified financial institution with a 125-year tradition of service and the personalized approach of a nimble financial partner.
First Citizens Bank helps personal, business, commercial and wealth clients build financial strength that lasts. First Citizens offers an array of general banking services including a network of more than 550 branches in 23 states and commercial banking expertise delivering best-in-class lending, leasing and other financial services coast to coast. Parent company First Citizens BancShares, Inc. (NASDAQ: FCNCA) is a top 20 U.S. financial institution with more than $200 billion in assets.

Silicon Valley Bank is focused on building deep and authentic relationships with founders, investors, and ecosystem partners to improve their probability of success. This specific role would help entrepreneurs of early and mid-stage startups with a mix of banking services, advice and valuable introductions.

The VP on the Relationship Banking team is responsible for acquiring and managing a portfolio of early-stage, pre-Series A clients including: business development, client onboarding, tracking and resolving portfolio credit/regulatory inquiries, managing relationships with startup founders, cross-selling bank products and services, managing risk and compliance issues, and coordinating with cross-functional SVB teams. This role supports the broader relationship and product teams, including collaboration across SVB teams representing commercial banking, credit cards, letters of credit, foreign exchange, treasury management, and private banking, with the goal of orchestrating a superior client experience and maximizing support of client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong relationships with pre-Series A founders, clients, prospects and partners. Early stage constituencies include accelerators/incubators, law firms, universities, industry groups, early stage investors (angel groups, VCs etc), and 3rd party firms who may add value to portfolio clients by augmenting SVB products and services or by offering adjacent solutions.
  • Assist Managing Director with new business development opportunities, events, and strategic initiatives. Represents SVB at events in market.
  • Lead client onboarding journey, collaborating with Managing Director and Product Advisor to understand client's strategy and financial needs. Post-onboarding, proactively engages client to review services and ensure client understanding and utilization.
  • Analyze and manage data sources to identify top clients and prospects. Determine potential cross-sell opportunities, predict fundraising needs and extrapolate industry trends;
  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of SVB's products and anticipate clients' needs for these products;

The VP should approach each client engagement, electronic or live, as an opportunity to advise clients and to improve their business standing through that advice. We strive to establish ourselves as trusted advisors more than 'bankers'. The VP will engage and build relationships with key client stakeholders to remain well-informed of industry developments and able to respond to changing circumstances while appropriately balancing client and SVB needs.
