Our Risk Insights and Audit team is responsible for executing a robust internal audit plan to identify and assess risks and opportunities for improvement by evaluating the design and operational effectiveness of controls for risk and core regulatory compliance. This team includes in-house auditors, working with external co-sourced audit providers.


This 12 months max term contract position reports to the Manager, Risk Analytics and Audit and is accountable of delivering elements of an independent, objective Line 3 internal audit plan and consulting projects across the Fund.

Your role adds value by leading, planning and performing the testing on financial and operational audits of controls of risks in UniSuper. By bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating the design and operational effectiveness of controls for risk and core regulatory compliance you will help identify any deficiencies and well as opportunities for improvements.

In this role you will execute a robust risk based internal audit plan that identifies and assesses risk to the business and achievement of UniSuper's objectives, and the effectiveness of internal controls.

Furthermore, you will:
  • Assist in development of the annual audit plan and assurance map, and participate in special projects as needed
  • Execute elements of the audit plan, from planning, testing, analysis and reporting
  • Provide input to Executive management, Board and Committee reports that translate deficiencies that require rectification and improvement recommendations
  • Maintain internal audit tracking and systems, and regularly reporting on progress
  • Co-ordinating with co-sourced independent internal audit providers, and internal stakeholders, as required
  • Support and coordinate the delivery of projects by outsourced service providers
  • Contribute to development of audit standards and processes and share knowledge on best practice, tools
  • Contribute to achievement of team and business unit goals

About you

As the successful candidate, you are someone who continuously reviews processes to identify and implement improvements in terms of accuracy, timeliness, stronger controls and governance. You are a critical thinker, resourceful, comfortable with a degree of ambiguity and thrive in an environment of change.

In addition, you will possess:
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills of standards and legislative/regulatory requirements
  • The ability to balance strategic and operational priorities and deliverables, paired with strong attention to detail, balanced by the ability to see the big picture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including an ability to communicate effectively at all levels, internally and externally
  • Flexible and efficient, with the ability to adapt to change and work under pressure to deliver to deadlines
  • Ability to think critically, objectively, and independently as well as the ability to work as part of a team, but also be self-directed
  • 2 to 3years' professional experience in Audit environment with a preference for professional services experience, preferably with Superannuation or Financial Services
  • CA, CPA or CIA qualified
