About The Role

General Accountability:

The Head FP&A Asia Pacific is responsible for all internal management reporting and group reporting. The person will lead the quarterly financial projections, review, analysis and annual planning processes for the region. This role is the key finance partner to senior leadership in APAC and the primary point of contact for various finance, business, group, and regional functions, providing financial analyses and insights as it relates to the underwriting results of Corporate Solutions APAC.

The role will lead, supervise and develop a team of 2 direct reports and 1 functional report. The regional FP&A team is lean and high performing, leveraging on central shared global functions.

  • Oversight of the quarterly bottom-up financial projection process, engaging closely with sub-region business leads to understand market development and track progress against Annual Plan targets
  • Responsible for the review and analysis of the quarterly Nominal financial results
  • Ensure timely and accurate submissions of all reporting requirements to the BU FP&A and Reporting teams
  • Present financial information and provide insightful analysis of the APAC region business performance, including historical developments, business trends as well as key drivers
  • Collaborate closely with the APAC Controlling & Reporting team, to provide business insights for the preparation of quarterly Group IFRS Results commentary for CorSo APAC
  • Develop and maintain rigorous routines around annual business planning, quarterly closing and forecasting, business reviews and performance reporting
  • Lead planning dialogues and challenge sessions and take responsibility for all plan related deliverables
  • Participate in business management meetings as the finance partner to senior leadership, drive discussions with business leaders, and connect business activities to impacts on financial results
  • Support the regional CEO, CFO and regional/sub-region heads in various business steering activities, strategic projects and business development initiatives
  • Develop strong relationships across finance and business functions, organisational levels and diverse cultures
  • Lead, supervise and develop direct and functional reports

About You

Educational/Professional
  • University degree (Accounting, Finance or Business) with CA, CPA, or CFA certification
  • More than 10 years' work experience in the insurance / reinsurance business
  • Proven track record of leading finance teams and related management experience
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written

  • Ability to think strategically and navigate ambiguity, with attention to details without losing sight of the big picture
  • Strong analytical skills, to distil and articulate complex issues clearly and concisely
  • Solid execution and problem-solving skills in order to deliver quality output within short deadlines
  • Good organizational skills, with ability to juggle multiple deliverables, competing priorities and moving timelines in a calm and structured manner
  • Effective collaborator, leveraging knowledge and optimizing flow of information between finance and business functions
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of GAAP reporting concepts (IFRS 17, IFRS 4, US Gaap) desirable.
