Position Summary

Manager, Financial Controllership role is within the Technology Financial Controllership team partnering with the Technology organisation. The Technology Financial Controllership team where this role sits is responsible for Month End management and deliverables, the accuracy of the ledgers (from an IAS/IFRS/Company Policy perspective) through cost assurance activities, Balance Sheet reviews, External/Internal Audit engagements and identifying areas for improvement to reduce audit risks. Controllership is the global process owner for Project Accounting and Fixed Assets as well as being a key contributor in various company-wide initiatives.

The role is based in Colombo (hybrid working) and requires strong relationship building with Business Finance, Corporate Functions, Internal/External Auditors and the CoE community which is critical to ensuring that all costs, commitments and liabilities are accurately recorded on a timely basis. This role will provide support and control of the business units' balance sheets and ensure that the financial statements reflect international standards.

Role Responsibilities
  • Supporting on Monthly close activities for the areas including review of accruals and prepayments and cost assurance activities to ensure that results are complete and accurate.
  • Production and review of key supporting schedules for significant costs within the areas supported.
  • Preparation and review of Balance Sheet Packs providing full commentary on movements and breakdown of balances for areas supported.
  • Identify opportunities for a more robust control environment to mitigate key risks.
  • Works with Finance, Business and Corporate function stakeholders to deliver outcomes they own by providing corresponding accounting, reporting and financial control support and enablement activities.
  • Provide guidance to the wider finance team to ensure all financial and accounting regulations and legislation are adhered to.
  • Timely audit responses.
  • Ad hoc projects and analysis.
Education / Certifications
  • Member of a recognised professional institute (CIMA/ACCA) with minimum 7 years of experience
  • Advance level Excel (VBA/Marcos not required).
  • Experience in Month End cycle and financial control.
  • Good working knowledge of IAS/IFRS.
  • Proven ability to form strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable with working autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines as well as working to a monthly close timetable.
  • Clear and effective communicator.
  • Strong customer focus & work ethic.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to work according to UK work hours
