Role Profile

This role is to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of applications and environments. Required to work closely with the development and operations teams to build and maintain a scalable and robust infrastructure that supports the organization's business goals. As part of this it is expected to analyzing the issues and finding solutions, deploying new releases, administrating and general maintenance, performing automations and service improvements.

Would be required to work on Morning, Day or Night shift based on UK time according to the monthly roster. Out of hours support overnight and across weekends and Bank Holidays is frequently needed. Should be able to provide on-call support.

They need to be domain experts in the underlying technologies used by the applications. They may be required to provide detailed technical support for developers producing bug fixes & new releases of these applications.

Must be self-motivating with the ability to prioritize tasks among the team.

Key Responsibilities

Support of the LSEG Post Trade / London Clearing House (LCH) applications related to Shared Technical Platforms / Clearing Services.

Support of a critical element of the London financial infrastructure.
  • Resolve Incidents and Problems
    • Monitor ServiceNow for Incidents and Problems
    • Analyze problems and decide on suitable resolutions
    • Apply resolutions following the LCH Change Management procedure
    • Report status to relevant business and IT teams
    • Record progress of incident resolution in ServiceNow
    • Follow documented incident management procedures
  • Bug fixes and enhancements to LCH products
    • Design solutions for longer term fixes for application bugs and small functionality enhancement requests
    • Implement application fixes
    • Update Bitbucket with source code changes where necessary
    • Update relevant WIKI/ documentation with changes
    • Co-ordinate the Release process for new releases
    • Work to the ITIL standard following LCH policies
  • Maintain working relationship with business teams and business management
  • Should be willing to work on Morning, Day or Night shift based on UK time according to the monthly roster
  • Out of hours support / On-call support
    • Be available for overnight support of production services to ensure successful completion of processing
    • Respond to overnight calls and deal with issues
    • Support weekend releases and maintenance work
    • Participate in Production out of hours activities such as Disaster Recovery exercises
  • Consultancy
    • Provide consultancy during bug fixes, design and implementation
    • Act as domain experts for the application and the relevant business domain
  • Mentoring & Knowledge Retention
    • Provide mentoring and support to juniors and new joiners
    • Provide Knowledge Transfers (KTs) to new joiners
    • Ownership of KT library and knowledge retention of the team
  • Assist in project related work
    • Carry out requirements as defined by project team
  • Quality check potential changes
    • Review development release packages prior to production deployment
    • Provide benefit of experience in the business area and application
  • Automation and Service improvement
    • Automate manual tasks in innovative way
    • Identify the gaps and improve the service to provide effective delivery
  • Support organization's objectives

  • Degree or equivalent experience educated, preferably in a technical field
Required skills and experience
  • Minimum 3 years of Experience in Site reliability engineering/DevOps or Application management.
  • Strong UNIX/Linux System Administration skills
  • Scripting skills (Shell scripting, Python)
  • Strong Oracle Database/SQL skills
  • Experience with IBM MQ
  • Knowledge of Network Diagnostics & Web Servers
  • Hands-on in version control repository (Ideally bitbucket)
  • Preferable to have Control M experience.
  • Exposure to AWS, Jenkins,CI/CD, Ansible and cloud technologies will be an added advantage
  • Understanding of product development lifecycle and methodologies
Person Specification
  • Experience in Financial or an investment banking environment.
  • Familiarity with financial products and financial terms.
  • Excellent analytical skills, Attention to Detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience of working in an IT support team.
  • Solid technical background in the core technologies with several years of experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to IT and business teams and to senior management
