How will I help?

Reporting to a Director, Project Finance, you will play an integral role in the Project Finance team, which supports the origination and execution of Project Finance transactions. The Westpac Project Finance team is considered a leader in financing renewable energy projects and infrastructure and PPP projects within the Australian market. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on high profile nation-building infrastructure projects and projects that support the growth of Australia's renewable energy (in line with Westpac's recent Net Zero Banking Alliance commitment).

You will contribute to origination and execution of Project Finance transactions by evaluating the credit quality of complex debt transactions across the Power & Renewables, Infrastructure & PPP, and Natural Resources sectors.

The focus globally on energy transition and infrastructure is expected to generate a large pipeline of opportunities. WIB and the PF business is exceptionally well positioned for this pipeline as the leading renewable energy financier in Australia in 2022 and the leading financier to greenfield Infrastructure over the last 5 years being key to the success of the team.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited the following:
  • Capabilities in originating, structuring, negotiating and documenting complex debt solutions;
  • Analyse transactions to meet financial goals within agreed customer, sector and country risk appetite.
  • Completion of credit risk analysis, pitches and research projects for transactions on time and to quality standards including financial modelling, risk analysis and structure in partnership with relationship, syndications, agency and risk teams.
  • Sector reporting for the team.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What do I need?

To be successful you will have demonstratable experience in Project Finance or another related finance and/or structured credit role. You will also have robust experience in credit writing, structuring and financial modelling, whilst understanding key business drivers. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with both internal and external stakeholders.

Some further advantageous skills are:
  • Experience in the financing of renewable energy and infrastructure projects is preferred.
  • Tertiary qualification in a related subject.
