Job Purpose

You will oversee end-to-end underwriting activities of the team and give advice and lead the underwriting team to achieve the overall Department's target.

The Job

• Work with re-insurers / actuaries / product development team to resolve issues
• Review and refine processes / guidelines to improve the business flow and efficiency of the team
• Share knowledge, best practices and industry trends with intermediaries
• Monitor underwriting standards and ensure they are aligned to the Company's business strategies and underwriting policies
• Monitor day-to-day operations to ensure operational efficiency
• Assist in executing strategic plans and projects to improve on operational efficiency and underwriting results
• Coach junior underwriters on underwriting processes / underwriting guidelines according to established SOP
• Pro-actively allocate resources based on business priorities
• As part of the leadership team, work with key stakeholders to proactively shape the organisation's culture and conduct environment that is aligned to the organization's Core Values
• Champion culture and conduct behavioral expectations within the Department/ Division
• Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks
• Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company
• Highlights any potential concerns/ risks and proactively shares best risk management practices

Our Requirements
• Degree holder
• Minimum of 5 years working experience in Group Insurance Underwriting role
• Minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity
• Demonstrates alignment with the organisation's core values through expected behaviours
• High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork
• Takes ownership to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes
