As a Certified Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing financial data, providing investment advice, and assisting clients in making informed financial decisions. Today the firm employs approximately 35 employees serving 80-100 advisors. SmartPro provides investment advice, and overall financial advisory services to families and institutions. SmartPro’s philosophy and approach closely aligns with the personal finance principles promoted by Dave Ramsey and his listeners.  

 

Investment Team Role

SmarPro is seeking an individual in its Sarasota, FL office to join the Investment Research team. The Investment team is responsible for Asset Allocation, Market Research, Manager Due Diligence, and Portfolio Construction for clients and strategies. The role would support our manager's research and analysis primarily in long-only and traditional formats as well as focusing on portfolio construction and market research and analysis. SmartPro advisor teams leverage the centralized Investment team and its 3rd party research to deliver customized investment solutions to their clients.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Manager Due Diligence: Research Separate Accounts, Mutual Funds, ETFs and LPs for use in client portfolios. Review management organizations, employees, portfolios and track records, and conduct meetings with key investment staff. Build due diligence reports and monitoring of portfolios and performance.

• Portfolio Construction: Conduct portfolio reviews and analysis on prospects and existing clients as we generate proposals detailing changes that should be made in portfolios. Highlight allocation or performance considerations for advisors.

• Market Research & Analysis: Review various aspects of capital markets and performance to prepare slides and analysis for use in Advisor and client presentations. Support many publications and resources delivered on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.  

• Advisor Teams Support: Advisor point of contact for investment research related questions, support and education to assist in delivering value to clients.

  • Coordinate closely from a research standpoint with CIO, assistants and owners to efficiently disseminate reports and information for decisions making.   

     

Candidate Requirements

• Experience: Preference for 2 to 4 years of work experience in the investment advisory, financial services or asset management industry.

• Strong Capital Markets Interest: Candidates should exhibit a strong interest in capital markets and investments as well as a working knowledge of asset classes and markets.

• Culture: Candidates must fit into SmartPro’s employee culture of accountability, fairness and transparency and adhere to mission statement and core values.  

• Quantitative Skills: Role will have some data intensity, and candidates should be highly competent in math and statistics.

• Communication and Initiative: Candidates should have experience expressing opinions on market-related matters and investments.

• Technology / Excel: Experience and knowledge of Office, especially Excel, as well as other financial analysis systems such as Black Diamond, CRMs, eVestment, Bloomberg, Factset, yCharts and Morningstar.

• Self-Driven / Motivated: SmartPro is an entrepreneurial environment that expects all employees to work hard and create a successful environment for advising clients.

• Education: Finance or Economics related major, current enrollment in the CFA program or having passed Level 1 of the CFA.  

• Base Salary: SmartPro offers a competitive base salary and overall compensation package for employees.

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
