Portfolio Manager

SOL Capital Management’s Investment Committee is adding a Portfolio Manager to our team. The primary function of the Portfolio Manager is to invest and monitor client assets in a diversified manner across various asset classes. Every portfolio that we manage is constructed on an individual basis according to each client’s unique objectives and circumstances; we do not use any model portfolios. We primarily invest in mutual funds and ETFs, but we also, at times, select individual stocks and bonds for certain portfolios. All Portfolio Managers contribute to the research process by analyzing current client holdings (e.g. stocks, bonds, mutual funds) to determine their suitability and to research and locate new investment ideas across asset classes. All Portfolio Managers meet with outside fund managers and representatives and are encouraged to contribute their research in Investment Committee meetings, where decisions are made as a team. Although SOL Capital has a dedicated Client Services team, Portfolio Managers will be asked on occasion to speak to clients directly about their portfolios, as well as their investment objectives and liquidity needs.

We require at least five years of experience in investment management, finance, or economics. We prefer candidates with an MBA or relevant Masters, and/or who are CFA Charterholders, and/or have passed the Series 65 Exam. The Series 65 is required within 3 months of the start of employment. We cover the costs and give you the time for the exam. We will also consider candidates with more experience who do not hold any of these designations. We require English fluency. PLEASE NOTE: This position is located in our Rockville, MD office and is a hybrid position requiring at least two days in the office per week.
