The Company

Our client is a dynamic and growth-oriented $80million turnover private equity-backed business, operating in the consulting space. Due to continued growth, the organisation is about to embark on a journey to build their in-house finance function and are in the market to hire an established Finance Manager to report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This is a permanent opportunity based in Melbourne's CBD with hybrid, flexible working arrangements.

The Role

Reporting into the CFO, your main responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the annual external audit process, liaising with external auditors and coordinating audit activities to ensure timely completion and compliance with audit standards.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and other financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Provide guidance and support to the accounting team in resolving complex accounting issues and implementing accounting standards updates.
  • Lead the development and implementation of internal controls and procedures to strengthen financial reporting processes and mitigate risk.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Mentor and develop team members, providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and training to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to support business initiatives and drive process improvements.
Your Profile
  • Qualified Accountant (CA, CPA, or equivalent) with 10+ years professional experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field;
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements, with experience in managing external audits.
  • Experience managing a team of direct reports, with proven leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
