Role: FINANCE - ANZ Country Controllership - Tax Specialist

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated tax specialist to manage the tax compliance quality of Accenture Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). Based in Australia and direct reporting to the ANZ Controllership Statutory and Tax Lead. You will be assisting the ANZ Controllership Statutory and Tax Lead to work along with leaders within the Global Tax, Controllership, Finance teams to improve and create processes to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all tax positions in Australia and New Zealand. You will be a key member in managing the ANZ tax function.

The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge in Australia and New Zealand taxes as well as experience in working in a collaborative team, effective communication skills, a proven track record of building relationships to delivering strategic value, and the ability to influence strategic thinking and business decisions.

Overall responsibilities:
  • Manage local tax compliance obligations in ANZ (including direct and indirect taxes e.g. GST and FBT). This will specifically include:
  • Preparation and filing of the annual income tax return, monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Fringe Benefit Tax returns;
  • Preparation of tax effect accounting calculations and statutory reporting for tax purposes;
  • Calculation and payment of the PAYG instalment income;
  • Preparation of filing of withholding tax (dividends, interest and/or royalty) calculations and returns.
  • With the assistance of the Global Tax team, manage tax reviews, audits and engagement with various tax and revenue authorities.
  • Identify, provide clear advice to internal stakeholders on complex taxation issues, changes in legislation and administrative decisions that impact the business as relevant.
  • Research and provide advice/recommendations on the tax implications of non-standard transactions including consideration of the income tax, withholding taxes, GST and FBT implications as relevant.
  • Post deal tax management for mergers and acquisitions undertaken in ANZ.
  • Support Statutory and Tax Lead to implement and improve end-to-end tax process and procedures.

Education & Experience
  • Commerce/Accounting degree preferable with 5+ years work experience in an accounting/tax function;
  • High level of Australian and New Zealand tax knowledge with concentration in the Income Tax, GST and FBT field;
  • Experience with tax compliance;
  • Knowledge of accounting principles;
  • Computer literacy - Word, Advanced Excel, Access and familiarity with financial information
  • Experience with SAP and OneSource is advantageous.
  • CPA / CA is preferred
