About this role

Our growing Private Business Tax & Advisory (PBTA) team is looking for an experienced Associate to join our Sydney office.

Business leaders face many challenges throughout the business lifecycle: from managing daily operations, tax and compliance, to navigating a competitive landscape and planning an exit strategy. As part of our 'Reach for Remarkable' brand promise, Grant Thornton's people are committed to providing a strikingly different client experience that is agile, authentic, and personal.

Key responsibilities

As an experienced Associate in our Sydney PBTA team, you will be responsible for providing a range of tax and accounting services in a timely and efficient manner for manager/partner review, including:

  • Preparation of company, partnership, trust and individual tax returns
  • Preparation of accounts, BAS, FBT, payroll tax returns and other compliance matters for a broad range of clients, from SMEs to large companies
  • Assisting with tax advisory work
  • Liaising with the ATO on a regular basis on a range of matters, including seeking remission of ATO penalties and interest
  • Build and maintain strong relationships as part of an effective client service delivery team
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to wider firm initiatives across the business

Skills & experience

  • At least 2 year's taxation accounting experience within a chartered accounting environment
  • University degree or professional qualification in accounting
  • Already hold CA or CTA professional accreditation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities within a deadline-driven environment and be adaptable to work across multiple managers
  • Experience in the use of Xero accounting software will be highly regarded

The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $82,000 AUD per annum inclusive of superannuation, dependent on experience and skillset.
