About the business & your team

The Safe and Seamless Payments Crew (SSP) are part of the Payments Domain under Business Banking (BB). The SSP crew are responsible for the group management of Scams and the Retail Payments business. Under the Retail Payments business, this role has the responsibility of being the product manager across various key payments initiatives, supporting the retail payments strategy and roadmap, engaging with and supporting key internal stakeholders on payments related matters, managing key risks and issues, managing key external partnerships and providing subject matter expertise.

The Retail Payments team's key internal stakeholders include the RBS Everyday Banking (EDB) business and RBS Consumer Finance business. RBS customers have everyday touchpoints with paying with their CBA cards and accessing the CommBank app to pay and it is essential that these are done in a safe, secure and efficient manner.

As a Product Manager within the Retail Payments team, your role is key in supporting both the current operational model and optimising the future state by driving CBA 'virtual' front-of-wallet.

This is an exciting opportunity in which you will use your critical thinking, high levels of initiative, passion and expertise to effectively execute the day-to-day management of the Retail Payments portfolio, which includes implementing initiatives, portfolio optimisation, distribution support, and management of risk and compliance obligations.

You will utilise your savvy for analytical and creative thinking to play a key role in the design of Retail Payments to enhance customer appeal, profitability, productivity, and ongoing customer engagement.

More specifically you will:
  • Support various squads with the execution of key strategic initiatives.
  • Apply your judgement and experience to drive successful outcomes with key stakeholders.
  • Manage risks and issues
  • Manage key relationships by closely with partners
  • Work closely with Product Owners in managing the key deliverables within the squads.
  • Stay abreast of external market trends (from regulatory, economics to innovation)
  • Be responsible for continued monitoring and proactive improvements of the risk and control environment
  • Ensure robust operational risk management, and continuous improvement of payment-related matters
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders with supporting the Retail Payments Strategy and roadmap.

We want to hear from people who have:
  • 6 years + financial services experience
  • Cards, Payments Product Management experience
  • Experience in partnerships, commercial contracts, vendor management
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategy development skills
  • Strong passion for learning and growing their career skills and expertise.
  • Strong thought leadership, ability to work autonomously
  • The ability and enthusiasm to act as a 'change leader' in supporting transformational activities
  • Experience dealing with a highly complex operational environment
  • A track record of working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across teams
  • Experience in a demanding environment requiring high degrees of leadership resilience
